Hello ,
I am back with loads of information that could be a better experience if i share that with you.As soon as one comes out of medical school the two broad options open are Whether to move abroad to have a foreign more international degrees or stay back in your homeland by doing a post graduation .So it all depends on your wishes and willingness.
In the first category of destinations abroad,USA,the land of opportunities, is definitely the most preferred destination ,followed closely by Australia,Singapore and the Carribean islands.(Jamaica,Trinidad and Tobago). The numbers of doctors moving to UK came down drastically as the job options were very limited. In the year 2000 lots of doctors used to sit for PLAB and move to UK to test their luck. But now-a-days hardly any one is thinking of UK.With this sort of changing colors in the medical field in the UK doors were open in the other new destination i.e.,Australia.There are at present, tons of jobs awaiting. The buzzword among doctors who are willing to move to Australia is AREA OF NEED(AON) where there are lots of jobs, which is the most popular route of entry for doctors who had a couple of years experience in their homeland. For fresh passed out candidates wishing move to Australia is the AUSTRALIAN MEDICAL COUNCIL EXAMINATION (AMC) Route. But which ever it is whether AMC or AON you have to prove your English language proficiency.
Coming back to UK scenario, now overseas doctors are thinking of UK to have the Royal college degrees.(MRCP,MRCS,FRCR etc) But even for them also you need not leave your homeland, you can sit for the exam and get the degrees if you have a postgraduate degree from your home country .
I will be posting about USMLE the qualifying test for doing residency in USA in my next post.
Till then
Cheers.
